It’s expensive for a pint in Iceland, about £9-10 (1,500 ISK) a pint, but did you know that there’s always a bar that is doing 2 for 1?

Or you should always make the taxi in Bangkok, Thailand turn on the meter before travelling to avoid paying way over price?

These are the kind of nuggets of information we aim to provide here at The Travel Advisory.

Who's Behind The Travel Advisory?

Mat McCorry Iceland
Mat McCorry

CEO & Founder

A wary and well researched traveller, Mat is the founder of The Travel Advisory.

Outside of The Travel Advisory he is a marketeer and director of a large UK based business, where researching and keeping up to date with the latest trends is essential.

And perhaps most importantly, and avid traveller. He regularly tries to go to new places, and tends to travel to at least 3-4 different countries per year, always with an eye on a great deal, tip or trick to share with the advisory.

Why It All Started...

It started with Mat, our founder, and a trip to Mexico.

Whilst bartering a taxi price to Cancún from the Airport, tired after a long flight, he realised he had no idea of how much it should cost him to get to his hotel, and after a quick research online it didn’t particularly provide a great or detailed or specific answer to find out if the prices quoted where actually what they should be.

That shouldn’t happen – there should be a good guide online to help you figure out how much you should be paying for a service (or even if there’s a better option, like a bus), no matter where you are in the world.
